Independent Fiscal Voices condemn union conduct at cancelled Fire board meeting Tuesday
We find the conduct of some members of the Fire Union leadership to be disgraceful and inappropriate.
The meeting on Tuesday was canceled because of an absence of a quorum. However union leaders and political activists used the event to stage a disrespectful political rally for their own political agenda.
We respect our union members and we respect our firefighters.
But the conduct of some of the activists who have put politics above the best interests of the Fire District is shameful.

Their conduct as described in this story demonstrates their lack of leadership and their disqualification to represent the Fire District.
The Fiscal Voices for Fire Safety — Orland Fire team of Donald “DJ” Jeffers, Beth Damas Kaspar, and Bridget Eileen Tolan — are proud to continue to receive a wide range of local endorsements in the April 1 local elections.
Thank you to all who support keeping the Orland Fire Protection District independent and opposing the mergers, consolidation and the “takeovers” by local mayors, supervisors, and union activists.
We care only about our taxpayers in the Fire District and ensuring that our Firefighters, who are the best in the nation, continue to receive the full support they deserve. Although politicians continue to deny they want consolidation or plan to take over the district, voters should know that taking over the district is exactly what Orland Park’s mayor Keith Pekau wants and what other politicians and supervisors want. Don’t believe their lies

We have received many endorsements. Thank you!
It’s important not to believe the mayors and supervisors who want to control this Fire District which is the best in the nation. Stop the Merger!

Jeffers, Kaspar, and Tolan received endorsement of the Republican Organization of Orland Township
The Independent candidates of the Fiscal Voices for Fire Safety slate running for the Orland Fire Protection District, who have been repeatedly attacked by Orland Park Mayor Keith Pekau and other elected mayors and supervisors, received the endorsement of the Republican Organization of Orland Township Wednesday for the office of Trustee in the April 1, 2025 elections.
Pekau is running his own slate to takeover the Fire District while asserting to people that he has no plans to takeover the District.
The FIscal Voices slate includes candidates experienced with first responders and emergency services who are seeking election and re-election to three Trustees on the Orland Fire Protection District (OFPD) on April 1. They are OFPD Commissioner Donald “DJ” Jeffers, OFPD Trustee Beth Damas Kaspar, and former Palos Heights Police CSO Bridget Eileen Tolan.
Jeffers, Kaspar and Tolan have openly denounced efforts by mayors, supervisors, union leaders and political activists to takeover the fire district which has a fully funded pension, is viewed as one of the best in the country.
“This election is critical to protect the Orland Fire Protection District from the mayors, supervisors, and political activists who want to take over the district. They can call it a takeover, or a merger, or a consolidation, but in the end, it is all the same. They want to run the district and control is healthy financial status,” said Orland Fire Protection District Trustee Beth Damas Kaspar who has been on the board since 2023.
“The Fiscal Voices slate which includes myself, Donald ‘DJ’ Jeffers, and former Palos Heights Police CSO Bridget Eileen Tolan, oppose the merger and consolidation of the Fire District with any outside government, Most importantly, we oppose the threatened takeover of the Orland First Protection District by Mayor Pekau and his slate, and by the activists who are also running a slate with outside political backing and all spreading lies. Commissioner Jeffers and myself have worked hard to protect the Orland Fire Protection District and we will continue to do that, with your vote on April 1.”
Kaspar said the Fiscal Voices candidates are proud of the many endorsements they have received from local organizations, community groups and organizations.

Vote for the best interests of the taxpayers of the Orland Fire Protection District, not the politicians who want to control our finances or use the District’s successes for their own political agendas.
The Fiscal Voices Slate ENTHUSIASTICALLY supports our Firefighters
Don’t believe the “politcal spin” out there or the lies by some activists and politicians.
WE ENTHUSIASTICALLY SUPPORT OUR FIREFIGHTERS.
Our goal is to take politics out of the Orland Fire Protection District and to protect the OFPD. That means electing an Independent slate of Trustees.
If you elect any of the other trustees, the OFPD will be beholden to the politicians, mayors, supervisors and “activists” who slated, funded and are pushing their literature out there.
Vote for the best interests of the taxpayers of the Orland Fire Protection District, not the politicians who want to control our fiances or use the District’s successes for their own political agendas.
Thank you to Orland Township United for standing up for the independence of the Orland Fire Protection District … and for their support. Together we can bring change to the Orland region and reduce the political influence of outside activists.
As you may see, we do not have the endorsements of mayors, supervisors, or union leaders and activists. We are independent and we support good government.
We are most proud of the support and encouragement we are receiving from the everyday people, the taxpayers and homeowners, seniors, and families, in the Orland Fire Protection District.
We are very proud to accept the endorsement of the Arab American Democracy Coalition which has worked to help engage the Arab and Muslim Community in local government and society for more than 40 years in the Orland Fire district. It is the largest organization representing Arab and Muslim Americans in the Orland Fire District. Every taxpayer deserves a voice.
The Fiscal Voices slate is independent of political control or manipulation and we strive to bring fresh ideas and free thought to the OFPD Board of Trustees.
Our priority is to keep the Fire District independent of the politicians who want to control the district and its tax base, and to prevent its takeover — call it a merger or consolidation — they all would love to control it as a part of their political agendas.
Our mission is to keep it independent and to ensure our heroic firefighters continue to provide the most efficient and professional services with the best equipment and dedicated support to fight fires and save the lives of our residents.
We are proud to accept support from individual homeowners, taxpayers, and from every person in our district.
Early voting is underway and we urge every voter to go to the polls and cast their vote to strengthen their community and protect their institutions.
